TSA PRE CHECK IS A GOOD DEAL FOR TRAVELING GRANDBOOMERS

GrandBoomers are close to or already retired by now...how quickly time passes.  For many, it will mean a greater opportunity to travel.  It may be a vacation, a visit to relatives, to attend an event.  However, if you've been to an airport recently, you realize that the security lines can change your mood from excitement to dispair rather quickly.  Fortunately the TSA now offers Pre Check. You can fill out an application online and also find a location near you for the final processing.  The…See More

A GRANDBOOMER COLLEGE GRADUATION

It was with great happiness GrandBoomers traveled to Washington DC earlier this month for the Georgetown University graduation ceremony for one of our granddaughters.  Last year we wrote about her undergraduate graduation from the University of Colorado and how impressed we were with the potential of the student body. This year, the situation was very similar with one additional, very obvious, addition.  As the names were called, it became increasingly clear that the graduates had come to…See More

DO YOU REALLY NEED LIFE INSURANCE?

GrandBoomers are now reaching retirement age.  If you are planning on retiring soon, you're probably reviewing your financial situation to see how far your savings will carry you.  Hopefully, your assets will take you well past any reasonable life expectancy.  Most of us carry life insurance.  It's probably been in place since the children were small. For others, policies were taken later in life to protect a spouse who might be left alone. Retirement plans should also include a review of your…See More

BABY BOOMER SUICIDE RATE IS SHOCKINGLY HIGH! WHY?

Recently an article by Tara Bahrampour, published in The Washington Post, was brought to my attention.  It notes that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show a "dramatic spike in suicides among middle-aged people, with the highest increases among men in their 50s, whose rate went up by nearly 50 percent to 30 per 100,000; and women in their early 60s, whose rate rose by nearly 60 percent (though this is still relatively low compared with men, at 7 in 100,000)."While suicide rates do…See More

So folks are using your site more as a website rather than becoming members? Was that by design or just what has evolved? I am planning a ning site as a piece of my proposal and am concerned about if and how it will be used. I manage three ning sites and am a member of a few more and find them to be under used. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
